Determination of the annual costs for golf course upkeep

This thesis deals with the maintenance of golf courses and especially machinery needed for the maintenance of these courses. The work is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. At the beginning of the theoretical part of the thesis are explained basic terminologies of golf courses and an explanation of the basic concept is given. This is followed by an analysis of each operation, and a description of the machines that are used to perform these operations. At the end of the theoretical part, there are briefly mentioned the various components of the costs for the machine maintenance and an overview of useful formulas for calculation of the costs is discussed. The practical part contains an overview of data collected on individual golf courses, including general information about these golf courses. Evaluation obtaining results of the calculation is mentioned at the end of the thesis.

The thesis is about the new trends in golf and its influence on regional development. Golf tourism has the conditions to be a sustainable form of tourism that evolves the region economically, socially and environmentally. This potencial is not being fully exploited, because the number of problems related with golf and golf resorts. New trends in golf are searching the way how to eliminate the majority of known problems. There are demands formulated in the thesis which the golf areas need to fulfil in accord with the new trends in golf. Some qualitative researches have been made according to the discussion with the agents of two very different golfs areas in the south of Czech Republic, specifically with the agents of Golf club Čertovo břemeno and Golf Resort Hluboká nad Vltavou. The research is evaluating how the both of them can utilize the new trends. There are concrete measures created for the golf areas that need to be accomplished by the resorts to help the region to be developed by golf and then we can consider golf being the true "green sport".
